She has trained clients in many settings including high schools, corporate sites, country clubs, retirement communities, physical therapy clinics, and Division 1 colleges. Lisa received her Pilates Instructor Certification in order to assist clients with core stabilization. Lisa’s passion is helping others realize the importance of physical fitness and assisting them while they work towards their health and fitness goals. She is very excited to help her clients accomplish their fitness goals.
Why did you decide to become a Personal Trainer?
I have a true desire to help people lead healthy lives. I have come into contact with so many people in my work who yearn to live a healthy life, but arent sure how to get there. I love helping clients achieve their goals, and seeing the transformations in mind, body, and soul! Health is so much more than looking good, and I love to help my clients achieve their individual goals.
What makes you stand out from other Personal Trainers?
My educational backround and work experience is very diverse. I like to take my backround in rehab and apply it to my Personal Training techniques. Many trainers are unaware of possible contraindications to exercise. I apply my knowledge to ensure that every program that I offer is safe, and highly effective. I also have my MS in health promotion which gave me the background to teach behavioral modification techniques such as time management, goal setting, etc. A lot of trainers can give a great workout, but without helping clients prioritize health, and clear out distractions, they will be unsuccessful.
Do you have any advice for people starting a Personal Training Program?
Health and Wellness take time. Dedication and persistance are truly important to any program. My advice would be to be patient, and not to look for a quick fix, or the miracle pill! Setting small goals and achieving them help to keep people motivated and on track. I try to encourage my clients to celebrate all small successes! In addition, I try to encourage my clients to find a form of exercise that they truly love. Exercise needs to be something that you enjoy doing. This is a habit that you need to adopt for life.
